Prof. Anna Guarini
Anna Guarini is Associate Professor of Hematology and Head of Laboratory “Diagnosis in Hematology” at the “Sapienza” University of Rome.
She earned her biological degree at ”Alma Mater Studiorum” University in Bologna, and specialized in General Pathology at University of Pavia, Italy. She worked at the Institute of Hematology “Seragnoli” in Bologna between 1976 and 1986. She took a sabbatical at “Mario Negri” Institute of Pharmacological Research in Milan, in 1982. She worked at the Hematological Unit of Division of Medicine, University of Torino between 1988 and 1996. She took a sabbatical at Memorial Sloan-Kettering Cancer Center, New York, between 1991 and 1992. She was Assistant Professor of Hematology, at ‘Sapienza’ University of Rome between 1998 and 2015. From 2000 she is Tutor at the PhD Course in of Hematology and, from 2006, at the Master Course in “Pediatric Hematology”, “Sapienza” University of Rome. From 2005 she is Professor of Hematology at Medical Biotechnologies Course at “Sapienza” University of Rome.
For many years in charge of laboratory investigations in clinical trials according to the GCP (Good Clinical Practice) regulations.
She is Member of European Hematology Association (EHA) and of Società Italiana di Ematologia Sperimentale (SIES).
Her main interests have been: the procoagulant activity of normal and leukemic cells, the function of platelets in myeloproliferative diseases, the biologic characterization of acute and chronic lymphoid cells, the role of flow cytometry in the diagnosis and monitoring of hematologic malignancies, the molecular technologies for the characterization of acute and chronic leukemias.
